Drunken Chronicles; Volume 43698765

Flashback to Friday the 21'st. I get a call from this Sr Director of my organisation, inviting me to a party. It was a small gathering, around 7 people, including a couple of my close friends. So, i was all keen to get going, especially with the prospect of DRINKS being served. It was half past 7, when MM and me set out on his bike towards The ITC Kakatiya Shereton(5 star and all!!!!!!). It was the regular party: three rounds of drinks, office-related boring conversations, food.....untill the "host" decided on inviting us all over to his place for Tequila. I bet there is no poor, deprived 23 yr old in this world who would have declined that offer. So off we went to his plush appartment in the highest of spirits awaiting some more SPIRIT....To our luck( or unluck-the way i see it now) he had the best spread of alcohol one could ever have. Gallons of authentic Mexican Tequila, the finest Single Malt Irish Whiskey, some weird Turkish drinh i dont recall now and the most important of all-a generous heart willing to share the bounty. So we indulged, drink after drink till about 2 in the morning, till it was time to head home.(Did i mention that we had to bike all the way back).
Before we started our journey, MM and me performed the basic "ARE YOU SANE ENOUGH TO RIDE" checks.
(a) Walk 10 steps without swaying------CHECK
(b) Tie shoe-laces in one attempt--------CHECK
Off we went. MM riding with me pillion. We covered a good 15 metres before our first fall.We rode straight on a rode that bent to the left. Our checks failed us. Never the less, we journeyed on, all red-eyed, heavy-headed...basically DRUNK. We cheated death a few times to say the least. We fell nearly 5 times along the way. There were times when we almost passed out in the middle of the highway. We reached home at 3..all bruised up but ALIVE....I woke up the next morning with a big hang-over and an even bigger shame.....I got a call that morning, a friend of mine at the same party had met with an accident on his way home. Broke his collar bone and his leg. MM cried when he heard this......he's getting married this sunday.

hai you obviously don't live in Bombay, because here everyone is very scared of going to jail for driving under the influence, why be scared of jail, being scared of death is a more natural fear, don't drink n drive...
